There are approximately 6000 hotels in Germany participating in a voluntary star-rating scheme, which adheres to the international star rating standards. Hotels may decide whether they wish to participate in this scheme or not.

Accommodation in Germany is of a very high standard, including hotels and guesthouses who are not participating in the voluntary classification. Standards are laid down and controlled even in the lower price categories, In fact many guesthouses, especially in the countryside, have rooms which are of equivalent quality and standard to those of deluxe hotels.

As the area around the Nurburgring is quite rural the hotels tend to be spread over various towns within an hour's drive of the circuit:
