South America's contribution to Formula 1 is the Interlagos circuit in the sprawling metropolis of Sao Paulo. It has been modified over the years, and provides a stimulating drive and modern facilities.

2009 breaks with old traditions with Sao Paulo providing the colourful backdrop for the penultimate Grand Prix of the season, instead of the last and usually deciding race of the championship!
