Round The World Stopovers

 

The concept of Round the World routings is worth considering on the Formula 1 circuit, with exotic new locations such as China and Bahrain featuring as permenant fixtures on the calendar.

We have shown a total of four suggested possible routings on the map, and how they can incorporate the locations of the long haul Grands Prix, plus stopovers and holiday destination ideas.

 

The two main options are the British Airways/Qantas - One World fares, and the Singapore Airlines/Varig - Star Alliance Fares.

Rules:

One World

  • Based on the number of continents visited, starting with three, and going up to six.
  • The continents are:- Europe, Middle East/Africa, Asia, South West Pacific, North America, Central/South America.
  • Airlines allowed: BA / QF/ CX / AA / AY / IB / LA / JL / MA / RJ 
  • Continents can only be passed through once
  • The basic principle allows you a certain amount of free flights within each continent, and even if you pass over a continent without stopping  that level must be charged.

Star Alliance

  • Based on a total mileage figure, with three tiers:- 29,000 / 34,000 / 39,000
  • Airlines allowed: SQ / AC / NH / NZ / TG / UA / LH / BD / JK / LO / OZ / SK / SA / US / LX / TP 
  • Journey must be in a continuous direction, and allows one transatlantic crossing, and one transpacific crossing. 
  • The fare allows a maximum of 28 sectors in an entire journey
  • Minimum 3 stopovers permitted, and a maximum of 15 stopovers.
