Activities with Cambridge & Rosslyn Sevens by Emily May Sanders

(March 2011)

Cambridge and Rosslyn SevensI am glad to say that it seems that spring has finally arrived. It was St David’s Day on the 1st March, which of course I celebrated being Welsh! The office was keen to embrace celebrations of another country's national day - my desk was populated with Daffodils as a surprise, and we all had ice creams in the office courtesy of the big boss!

Towards the end of March I attended Cambridge Sevens, where we sponsored the afternoon teas for the teachers and referees. It was a great way to meet new contacts at schools and to have a general chat about their tour requirements.

Our preferred kit supplier (Touchline Sports) were also a key sponsor at the event, so our Travel Places logo was printed on all the staff and winning teams' t-shirts – great publicity! The event also saw the launch of our new Winning Tours pop up stands, showcasing some of the great photos I have collected over previous events and tours that we as a department have worked on. I think my new nickname should be David Bailey, as our design team thought the photos I had given them to use were taken by a professional travel photographer.

At the end of the month, I spent the week at Rosslyn Park National School Sevens (luckily no thermals were needed!). We looked after a number of school’s accommodation requirements whilst they were competing at the event and we also had the opportunity to catch up with a few of the PE teachers that we have been in contact with lately.

The Isle of Man team has used Winning Tours to book their travel requirements on a number of occasions, including to Rosslyn Park and have recently given us the following feedback:

"…..We have used the Winning Tours division  of Travel Places a number of times to get us from the Isle of Man to tournaments in the UK .The service has been top class ; friendly , efficient and  good value .We have been impressed with the overall service and flexibility on the trips undertaken to date and will continue to use them in the future in our build up to the Commonwealth Youth Games."

April is looking to be an even busier month with more schools and clubs tours; I am booked up for the next five weekends looking after groups. It is a good thing I enjoy my job!
