Introduction by Emily May Sanders

(January 2011)

Happy New Year from Winning Tours and welcome to the first blog entry!! Winning Tours is entering the world of social media in style…..

It is now coming up to two years since the Winning Tours Department at Travel Places evolved into the market of rugby and clubs & schools travel.

2010 was a busy year for the department and I was rewarded at the end of the year by a winter break in Kenya , having won a competition organised by the Kenya Tourist Board – definitely a perk of the job!

Some of my photos can be seen in the Winning Tours Gallery.

Now back in the office after the Christmas and New Year – it is time to knuckle down once again as we have a busy 2011 ahead. Whilst the weather is cold and dreary it can often be an effort to get up out of bed and head to work, but there is a great atmosphere in the TP office. There is never a dull moment in Chapel Road! The kitchen is sparse of treats as everyone is on their ‘New Year Diet’ it makes a change as there is usually an abundance of cakes and sweets on offer to those who are easily tempted.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to be at the O2 Arena in the Virgin Atlantic VIP suite (yet another competition I won) it was great to have a face to face catch up with my colleagues in the Virgin Groups department.

I have tried to convince the team that our next meeting should be at Chapel Road and they need to bring the some of the all important pick and mix from their office canteen, or of course I am happy to meet them again at the O2 Arena, preferably whilst Rihanna is playing!

Staff nights out are in abundance in January with a trip to watch our colleague John in the local pantomime  – Jack in the Beanstalk and next week we have a British Airways Quiz night, hosted by the airline. There tends to be a lot of banter amongst colleagues mainly aimed at me for being Welsh, and this is only going to increase as we get nearer to the start of the IRB Six Nations. I have as usual planned a staff night out to watch the first match - Wales v England , I am hoping that Wales thrash England but there is more chance that I win the lottery than this happening… Oh well!

I hope you look forward to the next blog where I will discuss what is going on in the Winning Tours Department in further detail – See you soon!
