Rugby Tour with Pulborough RFC by Emily May Sanders(May 2011)
I spent Easter weekend back in my home town (Cardiff), with Pulborough RFC. For once it wasn’t raining in Wales; it was actually very sunny and hot – you could almost call it a tropical climate! The task of looking after 30 rugby boys was slightly daunting, especially as I was under the weather with a chest infection, but I have to say that they were a well behaved group (what goes on tour, stays on tour!) and I enjoyed every minute of it. The rugby boys also had a great time; I received some great feedback: "…..This is a big thank you from us all for all your hard work and organisation – we had a fantastic time on tour! I have to say that we were all very impressed with the accommodation. The white water rafting was a hoot – the only sadness was that we didn’t video it. The two rugby clubs that we played were great, not the ‘English eating Welsh Teams’ that were threatened at all… ha ha! Please feel free to show this to anyone else thinking of organising a rugby tour. We truly had a great time and we will definitely come back to you again with our future tour requirements. Since returning back from tour, I have maintained a good friendship with the guys at the rugby club. I was invited to their Annual Dinner Dance at Pulborough Rugby Club on the 7th May. They looked after me very well and it was a great evening – it made a change to see them all smartly dressed. I am looking forward to organising their next tour, wherever it may be – I have heard a rumour that Las Vegas may be on cards! I will need to be careful as I don’t want the tour to resemble scenes from the film ‘The Hangover’!                                                                                  Things are going really well in the Winning Tours Department...I have completed a number of quotes for schools and clubs group travel next year – with a few tours already confirmed. I will also hopefully have some exciting news in the next few weeks about new projects involving the UK Scouts and Six Nations Rugby in Edinburgh and Cardiff - watch this space!

After a very hectic couple of months escorting tours it was good to have some time back in the office to catch up with paperwork. I think I am finally getting too old to burn the candle at both ends - I have been informed that I am middle aged already, at the grand age of 31! I am disputing this fact though…
The group even experienced true Wales, by playing a fixture against Wattstown RFC situated in the Welsh Valleys. The hospitality provided by the rugby clubs the group played was outstanding. They were very friendly and many a drinking game took place in the club houses after the fixtures. A big thank you to both Old Penarthians RFC and Wattstown RFC for making my job a lot easier!
