13th World Scout Moot by Emily May Sanders(10th February 2011)I hope everyone is well and enjoying 2011. The less said about the rugby last week the better, poor Wales - no need to worry the boys will be back on form on Saturday for their match against Scotland ! I was expected to wear a daffodil costume into the office on Monday as punishment for Wales loosing but luckily it was at the dry cleaners!
We received some excellent feedback from the UK Scout Association last week, regarding their travel to Kenya last summer for the 13th World Scout Moot which I thought I would share with you. Receiving a letter in the post with good news like this always brings a smile to our face! Take a look at the Gallery to see what the Scouts got up to during their time in Kenya . "Right from the outset, your creative and lively approach to supporting 130 people in an unfamiliar, African environment was invaluable to myself and the wider project team. In summary, one of the main reasons we were impressed with the tender was your enthusiasm and creativity.
Finally, from a personal perspective I would like to say a huge thank you and the Winning Tours team, above all yourself for the humour and style and on occasion fortitude with which you delivered the project. If I am every lucky enough to work with you again, I’m sure that it will be just as much fun (well from my end at least!)." Jon Bell, UK Contingents Manager, UK Scout Association – 13th World Scout Moot in Kenya
My diary is starting to fill up with meetings and networking opportunities around the country where I hope to spread the good word about Winning Tours further afield. First stop is a schools sports conference at Tonbridge School. Before we know it March will be upon us and Travel Places/Winning Tours will once again be attending Rosslyn Park National School Sevens (28th – 1st April). Schools from all over the UK, and further afield will descend on Wimbledon Common for five days of rugby. Fingers crossed that the weather will remain above freezing; otherwise I may have to persuade the powers that be to include some TP branded thermals as part of our uniform. I will also be escorting a number of our groups on their tours to ensure that everything runs smoothly - Pulborough RFC is going on tour to my home town, (Cardiff) during the Easter weekend, and I am really excited to show the group what the city has to offer. There is more to Wales than sheep – I promise!
PS - We have a new addition to the Winning Tours Team – Marvin the Monkey will be our travelling mascot. Watch this space for a new Winning Tours competition where the challenge is to guess where in the world Marvin is. His passport has been renewed and he will be taking his first overseas trip in the next few weeks.
