Football (or soccer in the USA) is truly a global phenomenon and as a result there are numerous countries all over the world that embrace the game. Millions of people regularly go to football stadiums to follow their favourite teams, while more watch the game on television. In addition to this numerous people, both men and women, play football at an amateur level. Perhaps it is its simple rules and minimal equipment requirements that have aided its spread and growth in popularity over the years. With the FIFA Football World Cup taking place this year in Cape Town the sport is currently experiencing a very high profile – ‘football fever’ is certainly everywhere!

Why not combine some competitive fixtures whilst on tour in Europe with a stadium visit to one of the European giants such as FC Barcelona, Ajax or AC Milan? If you time it right you may even be able to watch your favourite team in action. Alternatively if you would like to travel further a field then there are plenty of destinations to choose from including South America, North America and South Africa. Standard of play can vary between destinations, but opposition is always enthusiastic and plentiful - teams are always keen to play against British opposition!
