Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, Kentucky 2010

Overview:

The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will be held in Lexington, Kentucky from 25th September to 10th October 2010. This will be the 6th edition of the Games which are held every four years and run by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). For the first time, the games will be hosted by a city in the USA.

The World Equestrian Games, held every four years, are comprised of the world championships for eight equestrian sports - show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, reining, vaulting, endurance and para-equestrian.

The inaugural games were held in 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden, with the most recent being held in Aachen Germany and have never taken place outside of Europe, until now.

The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky will represent the largest equestrian sporting event ever held in the United States. It is anticipated that 60 nations will take part, leading to numbers of 800 or more competitors, 900 plus  horses, with the attendance predicted to be around half a million spectators.

Venue:

The Kentucky Horse Park will host the main events, which is located more or less midway between Lexington and Georgetown, off exit 120 on Highway 75, with a travel time of 15 minutes from both towns.

Travel Places:

We are delighted to be announced as an Official Travel Partner for Team GBR 2010 for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. We will be working closely with Shorts Sports & Events Logistics from the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Housing Bureau to provide all your ground arrangements from hotels to transfers and tours.

We have a proven track record in organising and handling large movements of clients to major events: with recent successes being the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games and in the past the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, plus the Volvo Ocean Race.

Travel Places are an Official Travel Partner for Team GBR 2010 for the World Equestrian Games. With regards to spectators we appreciate that different types of travellers will have different needs and we can tailor packages accordingly.

With the Dressage and Eventing competitions taking place in the first week and Jumping in the second (not to mention all of the other disicplines) it is likely that people will want to visit the games at different times. We have therefore based our packages around 8 nights, with a 15 night package available for those who want to stay for the whole duration.

Packages for accommodation start at £1465 based on two people sharing for an eight night stay, including flights and transfers. Tickets to be purchased seperately.  Accommodation is limited and we recommend making arrangements as soon as you you can.   Tickets can only be purchased when purchasing an accommodation package.

We will be as flexible as we possibly can with your trip, but due to constraints placed on us an eight night minimum stay will be applied, depending on which property you choose.  We will also be able to arrange car hire and any tours that you may wish to add onto your trip.
